Monthly Care Coverage & Staffing Update

We believe in being transparent about how we are doing as an organization and keeping you informed about the challenges and successes we experience while providing nursing care.

Understanding the Numbers
Before reviewing this report from June, it's important to know that these numbers don't always tell the entire story. Every family's situation is unique. While we track the percentage of authorized nursing hours we are able to staff, a lower coverage percentage does not necessarily mean that a family went without care.
Some families intentionally choose not to have all of their authorized hours filled by Nursingale. They may prefer to provide some of the care themselves, have trusted private-duty nurses they employ independently, or use other caregivers to meet their family's needs. Because of this, the coverage percentages shown below may underrepresent the actual amount of care a client receives.
Our goal is always to work collaboratively with each family to provide the level of nursing support that best meets their individual needs and preferences.

What the numbers tell us
This month, our nurses provided:
  • 2,585 hours of direct nursing care (RN, LPN, school nursing, and overtime combined)
  • Services to 12 client homes
  • More than $221,000 in nursing services delivered to families.
Coverage continues to vary
One of the most important measurements we track is the percentage of each client's authorized nursing hours that we are able to staff.
This month:
  • Our highest staffed home received 84% of its authorized nursing hours.
  • Several homes received 68–72% of their authorized hours.
  • Other homes received between 40–52% coverage.
  • A few homes with the greatest staffing challenges received less than 35% of their authorized hours.
Although some of these percentages reflect the ongoing nationwide nursing shortage, others simply reflect family choice. We continuously communicate with each family to understand their staffing preferences and prioritize recruiting efforts for those who want and need additional nursing support.

How we use this information
Every month we review reports like this to help us:
  • Identify which families need additional staffing support.
  • Focus recruiting efforts where they are needed most.
  • Balance staffing fairly across all clients.
  • Monitor overtime to help prevent nurse burnout.
  • Ensure the long-term financial health of our nonprofit so we can continue serving families.
Thank you
We recognize that every unfilled nursing shift affects a family differently, and we are grateful for the trust you place in us. Whether your family relies on Nursingale for all of your nursing care or supplements care with family members or privately hired nurses, we appreciate the opportunity to partner with you.
Thank you for your patience, flexibility, and support as we continue recruiting qualified nurses and strengthening our team. Our commitment remains the same: providing safe, compassionate, high-quality care while working tirelessly to meet the needs of every family we serve.
